Georgi Peev, construction manager and project manager in high-end and luxury homes

We interviewed Georgi Peev. One of his most recent works is the project Casa Aligues, the house of acute angles, designed and built to go directly to the luxury real estate market. Estudi Cano and Peev were responsible for opening the doors and allowing Worldlight to participate with the design of technical and decorative, interior and exterior lighting in this luxury property.

We sat down with him to get to know him in depth and for him to tell us what it is like to constantly work with excellence as a premise.

Georgi Peev has more than 10 years of experience in Construction Management and Project Management of high standing and luxury homes in Palma de Mallorca. Involved in the technical solution and project management, he emphasizes that sustainability and resource management are no longer an extra, but a necessity.

What do you like most about your job?

Perhaps I would highlight the dynamism involved in the process of a project of a newly built house or a reform. From the proposals of constructive solutions, to their execution from paper to reality, where it is seen that they really work and serve their purpose, what I call "making the path" of each technical solution:

- From having the idea, to finding the most suitable professional to execute it.

- From discussing this idea, how it will be executed by the different professionals involved, to controlling the execution process, costs, finishing and functionality.

- And finally to arrive at the assessment of the whole process for future improvements.

For me, this "path" I am talking about is a constant learning process for my own professional growth and development.

I could also mention the diversity of professionals with whom I interact. How each one of us is involved in the same constructive process, but in a different way: each one with his own responsibility.

Which professional in architecture or interior design, a world reference, would you like to collaborate with?

The architectural firms and professionals in the sector, here in Mallorca, who are the ones who understand Mediterranean architecture and design, I can't think of anyone better!

I believe that by living on this beautiful island of Mallorca, and providing my services not only here but also throughout the Balearic Islands, my challenge is to offer constructive solutions that bring this Mediterranean style to reality.

If you were a lamp, you'd be...

Indirect light.

I consider it to be a discreet type of lighting that does not disturb and, at the same time, gives a lot of life to the area where it is used.

I have always been fascinated by the fact that a light that you do not see directly, can create so many stories, emotions and shadows in an environment.

In reference to the Aligues House, tell me about its main characteristics.

The location of Casa Aligues is idyllic, surrounded by nature and very close to the sea. It is characterized by its sharp angles, and its minimalist and contemporary aesthetics. With large windows, instead of walls, that bring natural light to the entire interior of the house. And outside, the pool blends with the almost triangular shape of the building, as well as the solarium and the covered terrace with stone and grass.

The challenge:

The main challenges were twofold. The first was the slope of the land on which the house was to be built, because it meant having to reinforce the perimeter with a reinforced concrete retaining wall.

And secondly, the steep angles of the design of its construction, because special care had to be taken when working with different materials in these sharp corners to achieve perfect alignments of the tiling, windows and joints.

Anecdote:

When talking about this project, the idea comes to my mind that if this house had to have a name, it would be "The house of acute angles". And this is how I present it in my web www.peev.es

How important is lighting for you in your projects?

It is essential! The high level of quality finishes and finishes that we achieve in PEEV need to be carefully illuminated to highlight the environments designed by the architect.

I believe that a detailed study of the lighting, both interior and exterior, is essential. That's why we trust WorldLight, because we know that their work is always in tune with ours.

How does lighting influence or how important is it in Casa Aligues?

Being a house with many acute angles, and where we have used different materials and textures, lighting plays a fundamental role. The type of lighting, the intensity and its location create different atmospheres, which stand out especially at night.

How was your collaboration with WorldLight?

WorldLight shares many of PEEV's values and work philosophy. They are "passionate" in their own professional field, as we are in ours, and you can see that desire to improve with each project.

All these points in common translate into a smooth collaboration, with the common purpose of achieving an excellent final result.

In addition to their professionalism, I emphasize their high level of empathy to understand the needs posed by the client, and thus offer specific solutions for each project. They are also flexible and decisive at the same time.

Why would you recommend Worldlight to other industry professionals?

When recommending WorldLight, I would also add that they have a team of professionals very involved in their work, able to adapt to the needs of each project.

When working with them you understand that it is a great company made up of motivated people who all share the same philosophy. This gives the client a feeling of closeness, of working with people and not with a company.

Do you miss anything in our study? What would you improve?

The truth is that there is nothing that I miss at a professional level. But this leads me to make a reflection related to what I said in the previous question. Having worked so well with you, and having experienced firsthand that you provide a very professional service but with a very personal treatment, I am left with the idea of organizing and sharing an event outside the professional field. And I am sure that anyone who works with you will agree with me. We can develop this idea outside the interview (laughs).
