Flat BC & Rimirim Design
Vero Montijano of Rimirim Design commissioned Worldlight to handle the lighting design for this full renovation of a 300 m² apartment in Palma.
The house consists of an entrance hall, living area, dining room, kitchen, and laundry/service zone.
Vero explained that the owners wanted to avoid a classic style, preferring a more contemporary aesthetic that was also cozy, elegant, comfortable, and bright.
The interior design studio aimed to create open, flowing spaces. To achieve this, most of the interior partitions were removed, and wooden panels and shelving units were used to define areas without closing them off completely.
The kitchen, a key area in the renovation, was designed to be separable when needed. A large glass sliding door brings in natural light, allowing the space to be enclosed while maintaining a view of the exterior. When the door is open, it slides into the wall, integrating the kitchen seamlessly with the dining area.
Regarding the lighting design, the ceilings feature moldings with recessed LED strips to define each space.
The living area is divided into two zones: one for watching television and another for reading or enjoying a drink after a meal.
Each space incorporates multiple types of lighting, giving the client the flexibility to select different scenes depending on the moment. The project combines table lamps, floor lamps, ceiling fixtures, and recessed LED strips integrated into the ceiling or furniture.
In Flat BC & Rimirim Design, lighting plays a particularly important role in this home, as the owners have several works of art that require focused lighting to highlight and enhance each piece.
