Project Hotel MIM en S’Illot by Worldlight
We are proud to share the images that showcase the lighting design created by our team for a four-star hotel in Mallorca: the Hotel MIM Mallorca, located in S’Illot.
The architectural firm GMM, led by Guillem Mateos, invited us to collaborate on this beautiful project.
As we often mention, working on hotel lighting design allows us to explore creativity in all its forms. Each area requires specific lighting conditions, giving us the freedom to adapt the type, intensity, and tone of light depending on whether we are in the restaurant, the pool area, the spa, or the guest rooms. This variety makes it possible to create distinctive atmospheres that enhance the guest experience.
Hotel MIM Mallorca
The hotel reflects a Mediterranean spirit that is simple, elegant, and timeless. The hotel, owned by footballer Leo Messi and managed by the Majestic Hotel Group, sits right on the seafront promenade of S’Illot on the Sant Llorenç coast. It consists of two buildings of three and four stories facing the sea, connected by a stunning overflow pool with water cascading on all sides. The pool and its terrace are located almost at street level, allowing guests to feel part of the coastal promenade as they enjoy their stay.
The property features 98 rooms, a pool bar and porch, a newly renovated spa with all modern comforts, gym, massage and relaxation area, sauna, hammam, and the top-roof Bar Fly with a rooftop pool on the three-story building. On the four-story building, a sun terrace offers panoramic views of the Mediterranean and the protected natural area of Punta de n’Amer.
The project was developed in collaboration with interior designer Sebastià Gomila, the engineering firm Cabal Enginyers, and Diagonal House Constructora BCN. Together, we completely renovated the hotel to meet the high-quality standards of Majestic Hotel Group and MIM Hotels.
The design concept combines contemporary style, local craftsmanship, and natural materials. Most of the furniture and finishes were created by local artisans and suppliers, alongside pieces from prestigious national brands.
The result is a functional, fresh, and Mediterranean design, deeply inspired by the Balearic aesthetic. It incorporates native fabrics, esparto grass, wicker, and reed, all handcrafted on the island.
Lighting plays a key role throughout the project. Inside, it enhances comfort and atmosphere while supporting LEED certification standards. Outside, the facade lighting highlights the building’s modern and distinctive architecture, turning it into a recognizable landmark along the S’Illot promenade.
